Mr. Richard Lanyon, General Superintendent

Title

Authority to issue a five (5)-year permit to NeighborSpace on approximately 212 lineal feet of District land located along the east bank of the North Branch of the Chicago River, immediately south of Berteau Avenue, in Chicago, Cook County, Illinois.  Consideration shall be a nominal fee of $10.00.

Body

Dear Sir:

NeighborSpace currently is permitted to use approximately 212 feet of District land located along the east bank of the North Branch of the Chicago River, immediately south of Berteau Avenue, in Chicago, Cook County, Illinois.  Their permit will expire on August 13, 2008.  NeighborSpace uses the site to perform bank stabilization, native planting, maintenance of a woodchip trail, and other related public purposes.

NeighborSpace has requested a new five (5)-year permit upon expiration of its current permit.

The issuance of a five (5)-year permit to NeighborSpace on the site is being recommended to allow NeighborSpace to continue to occupy the site for native planting and other related purposes.  The permit shall be conditioned upon satisfactory completion of any technical conditions.

It is requested that the General Superintendent recommend to the Board of Commissioners that it authorize and approve the issuance of a five (5)-year permit to NeighborSpace on 212 lineal feet of District real estate located along the east bank of the North Branch of the Chicago River, immediately south of Berteau Avenue, in Chicago, Cook County, Illinois, for a consideration of $10.00.

It is further requested that the General Superintendent recommend to the Board of Commissioners that it authorize the Chairman of the Committee on Finance and the Clerk to execute said permit agreement after it is approved by the Attorney as to form and legality.

Requested, Frederick M. Feldman, Attorney, FMF:CL:DRJ:sd

Recommended, Richard Lanyon, General Superintendent

Respectfully Submitted, Terrence J. O’Brien, Chairman Committee on Real Estate Development
