Dear Sir:
 
Contract documents and specifications have been prepared for Contract 12-706-21 Restoration of Preliminary Tank Drives at the O'Brien Water Reclamation Plant, at the request of the Maintenance and Operations Department.
 
The purpose of this contract is to mechanically restore six preliminary tank drives at the O'Brien Water Reclamation Plant which have worn to the point of imminent bearing failure.
 
The estimated cost for this contract is $240,000.00. The estimated 2013 and 2014 expenditures are $120,000.00 and $120,000.00, respectively.
 
The bid deposit for this contract is $12,000.00.
 
The Multi-Project Labor Agreement (MPLA) will be included in this contract.  
 
The Affirmative Action Interim Ordinance Appendix D will not be included in this contract because this contract does not offer practical cost-effective opportunities for direct or indirect subcontracting.
 
The tentative schedule for this contract is as follows:
Advertise                  June 5, 2013
Bid Opening                  June 25, 2013
Award                        August 8, 2013
Completion                  December 31, 2014
 
Funds for the current year are available in Accounts 201-50000-645650/645750. Funds for subsequent year, 2014 are contingent on the Board of Commissioners' approval of the District's budget for that year.
 
In view of the foregoing, it is recommended that the Director of Procurement and Materials Management be authorized to advertise Contract 12-706-21.
