Authority to enter into discussions with Cook County to explore terms related to authorizing Cook County’s Independent Inspector General to serve as MWRD’s Inspector General
Body
Dear Sir:
Pursuant to the Board of Commissioners’ (“Board”) consensus at its May 3, 2018 Study Session concerning an Inspector General at MWRD, authority is requested to permit the Law Department, in conjunction with continuing communication with and review by the Board, to enter into preliminary discussions with Cook County to explore terms related to authorizing Cook County’s Independent Inspector General to serve as MWRD’s Inspector General. Discussions will include potential terms of an Intergovernmental Agreement between MWRD and Cook County, as well as any other legal documents that may be necessary to effectuate a shared Independent Inspector General. Any proposed agreement will be subject to the review and approval of the Board of Commissioners prior to seeking authority from the Board to enter into an IGA.
Based on the foregoing, it is requested that the Board of Commissioners grant authority to enter into discussions with Cook County to explore terms related to authorizing Cook County’s Independent Inspector General to serve as MWRD’s Inspector General.
