Authority to commence statutory procedures to lease approximately 22.9 acres of District real estate located at 15660 Canal Bank Road in Lemont, Illinois, known as Main Channel Parcel 23.03

Dear Sir:

 

A. Block Marketing, Inc. (“A. Block”) has requested to continue leasing approximately 22.9 acres of District real estate located at 15660 Canal Bank Road in Lemont, Illinois, known as Main Channel Parcel 23.03. A. Block currently leases the site for barging, sale, storage and distribution of landscaping materials and mulching activities. A. Block has been occupying the site since 2005, with the current lease expiring October 31, 2023. The current annual rent is $242,254.24. If A. Block is the successful bidder, it intends to continue the same uses. The requested lease term is fourteen (14) years.

The District’s technical departments have reviewed this lease request and have indicated that the subject site is not currently needed for corporate use and that they have no technical objections thereto. The Village of Lemont has no objections to the proposed lease of the property.

 

It is requested that the Executive Director recommend to the Board of Commissioners that it authorize and direct the General Counsel to commence statutory procedures to lease approximately 22.9 acres of District real estate located at 15660 Canal Bank Road in Lemont, Illinois, known as Main Channel Parcel 23.03, upon the terms and conditions set forth herein.
