TRANSMITTAL LETTER FOR BOARD MEETING OF DECEMBER 21, 2017
COMMITTEE ON PENSION, HUMAN RESOURCES AND CIVIL SERVICE
Mr. David St. Pierre, Executive Director
Title
Authority to amend dental benefits for non-represented employees effective February 1, 2018
Body
Dear Sir:
The Board of Commissioners recently approved collective bargaining agreements between the District and the unions representing District employees. These collective bargaining agreements included several changes to the dental benefits offered to represented employees. These changes impact the in-network and out-of-network co-insurance for the dental PPO plan. The changes are outlined in the table below:

The collective bargaining agreements also included an enhancement to the orthodontics coverage offered under the dental PPO plan. Effective February 1, 2018, the lifetime limit for orthodontics coverage will be increased from $1,000 per participant to $2,000 per participant. This coverage will continue to be offered only to eligible participants under the age of 19.
In an effort to maintain consistency in the benefits offered to employees, it is recommended that these changes are also implemented for non-represented employees. These changes would be implemented effective February 1, 2018.
Authorization is requested to implement these changes to the dental benefits for non-represented employees effective February 1, 2018.
Requested, Beverly K. Sanders, Director of Human Resources
Respectfully Submitted, Mariyana T. Spyropoulos, Chairman, Committee on Pension, Human Resources & Civil Service
Disposition of this agenda item will be documented in the official Regular Board Meeting Minutes of the Board of Commissioners for December 21, 2017
