MEMORIAL RESOLUTION FOR BOARD MEETING OF DECEMBER 18, 2008

MEMORIAL RESOLUTION sponsored by the Board of Commissioners extending sympathy and condolences to the family of Morgan D. Carter

Body

 

WHEREAS, Morgan D. Carter, II was born in Lansing, Michigan on May 23, 1947; and

 

WHEREAS, Morgan Carter graduated from J.W. Sexton High School and attended Michigan State University from 1965 to 1969 for Business Administration; and

 

WHEREAS, Morgan Carter passed from this life on November 16, 2008; and

 

WHEREAS, Morgan Carter had visitation at Robey Park Manor Funeral Home in Chicago Heights, Illinois on Friday, November 21, 2008; and

 

WHEREAS, funeral services were held for Morgan Carter at the House of Prayer Church of God in Christ, Chicago, Illinois on November 22, 2008; and

 

WHEREAS, Morgan Carter was laid to rest at Mount Hope Cemetery in Evergreen Park; and

 

WHEREAS, Morgan Carter, known as “The World’s Conversation Starter”, was a talk radio & TV host having had shows on WVON-AM, WGCI-FM, V103-FM, WSSD-FM, WBEE-AM, WGCR Web Satellite Radio, WCFJ 1470AM and WBGX 1570AM; and

 

WHEREAS, Morgan Carter also hosted radio and cable TV programs including the Chicago Media Connection on channel 19, Omnibus Roundtable, and various special features; and

 

WHEREAS, Morgan Carter was a part of a television marketing team which placed positive images of African-Americans, Hispanics, Native-Americans, and Asian-Americans throughout the nation on TV and cable networks serving over 20 million households; and

 

WHEREAS, Mr. Carter served as a Media Counsel for the Chicago Local Organizing Committee of the Million Man March; and

 

WHEREAS, Morgan Carter provided Media, Public, Political and Government relations counsel and assistance to many entrepreneurs, news personalities, entertainment, professional athletes, local, national, international, politicians, and statesmen; and 

 

WHEREAS, Morgan Carter focused his career on ensuring that important news, views, and trends concerning African-Americans were broadcast across the nation and around the world; and

 

WHEREAS, Morgan Carter was emcee and member of the Ace Business Network which met at Chatham Pancake House at 7:00 am every Monday; and

 

WHEREAS, Morgan Carter leaves to cherish his memories his wife Wanda Armstrong Carter, daughter Kimberly Lynn Hung, son David Carter, grandson Joshua, brother Byron Carter, and three nieces, Corissa, April, and Ariel; and

 

WHEREAS, Morgan Carter will be deeply missed by all who knew or worked with him and his consistently positive influence will be missed by the entire community; and

 

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that we, the Board of Commissioners of the Metropolitan Water Reclamation District of Greater Chicago, on behalf of ourselves and staff, extend our sympathy and condolences to the family of Morgan D. Carter; and

 

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that this Resolution be spread upon the permanent Record of Proceedings of the Board of Commissioners of the Metropolitan Water Reclamation District of Greater Chicago and that a copy of same, suitably engrossed, be presented to the family of Morgan D. Carter.
