Dear Sir:

 

Gina Nutting is a Truck Driver working at the Stickney Water Reclamation Plant.  On July 21, 2022, the employee reported that she was standing on the tailgate of a truck, when she stepped back into the support chain and fell to the ground. She was transported by ambulance to the hospital. She was diagnosed with fractures of the left arm, and displaced distal radius and ulnar styloid.  She was placed in a splint. Ms. Nutting was taken off work effective July 22, 2022.  On July 27, 2022, the employee had a plate with screws surgically placed in her left wrist. Ms. Nutting returned to restricted work on October 24, 2022.

 

Ms. Nutting continued having pain in her left arm. On February 1, 2023, an MRI revealed a high-grade rotator cuff tear.  On March 24, 2023, she underwent left shoulder surgery. Ms. Nutting was off work again as of March 24, 2023. She was able to return to work on June 26, 2023.

 

Ms. Nutting was paid a total of 26.4 weeks of lost time benefits totaling $28,157.86.

 

Subject to the approval of the IWCC, this Pro-Se case can be settled for $100,800.02, representing approximately 20.0% loss of the hand and 12.0% of a person as whole. This settlement will close out any future lost time and medical benefits associated with this injury.

 

The Director of Human Resources believes this settlement is in the best interest of the District and requests payment of that sum be approved and he be authorized to execute such documents as may be necessary to effect the settlement.
