Authority to extend until November 30, 2024, the terms of the collective bargaining agreement between the Metropolitan Water Reclamation District of Greater Chicago and SEIU Local 1, Firemen and Oilers Division

Dear Sir:
On June 30, 2024, the Metropolitan Water Reclamation District’s collective bargaining agreement with SEIU Local 1, Firemen and Oilers Division was scheduled to expire. A total of approximately 293 employees are represented in this bargaining unit.
Before, and again after, the agreement expired, the authorized representative of this bargaining unit signed written extensions whereby it was agreed, on behalf of the union, to extend the terms and conditions of the existing agreement to a date specified in the extension. Based on the most recent extension submitted to the District, the union seeks to extend those terms until November 30, 2024.
Negotiations between the District and the union are ongoing and it is therefore requested that the Executive Director recommend to the Board of Commissioners that it approve extending the terms and conditions of the existing agreement until November 30, 2024.
