Dear Sir:

 

Contract documents and specifications have been prepared for Contract 10-816-11 Design, Manufacturer, Deliver and Install a Screw Pump Trunnion Bearing Assembly at SEPA Station No. 4, at the request of the Maintenance and Operations Department.

 

The purpose of this contract is to procure parts and services to replace a damaged trunnion bearing assembly and repair the concrete base of Screw Pump No. 1 at SEPA Station No. 4, over an approximately 90-day period. Screw Pump No. 1 is used in the aeration of the Calumet Sag Channel to maintain dissolved oxygen levels within the NPDES permit limits.

 

The estimated cost for this contract is $95,000.00.

 

The bid deposit for this contract is $4,700.00.

 

The contract specifications require that all work commence approximately June 14, 2010, and terminate on September 12, 2010. Liquidated damages are $250.00 per day for each calendar day that the contractor is in default of the time specified above.

 

The Multi-Project Labor Agreement (MPLA) will be included in this contract.

 

Revised Appendix D will not be included in this contract because the estimate is less than the minimum threshold established by Section 4 of the Affirmative Action Ordinance.

 

The tentative schedule for this contract is as follows:

Advertise                     April 14, 2010

Bid Opening                     May 4, 2010

Award                     June 3, 2010

Completion                     September 12, 2010

 

Funds will be available pending approval of a funds transfer at this Board Meeting under a separate Agenda Item.

 

In view of the foregoing, it is recommended that the Director of Procurement and Materials Management be authorized to advertise Contract 10-816-11.
