Dear Sir:

 

Contract documents and specifications have been prepared for Contract 16-690-11, Furnishing and Delivering Refurbished Low Voltage AC and DC Motors to Various Locations, at the request of the Maintenance and Operations Department.

 

The purpose of this contract is to procure refurbished low voltage AC and DC motors for the Stickney, O’Brien, Egan and Calumet Water Reclamation Plants. The motors to be restored are either obsolete, and not available in the market, or not cost effective to buy new. The duration of the contract is two years.

 

The estimated cost for this contract is $128,400.00. The estimated 2016, 2017 and 2018 expenditures are $36,800.00, $45,800.00, and $45,800.00, respectively.

 

The bid deposit for this contract is $6,400.00.

 

The Multi-Project Labor Agreement will not be included in this contract because the work is performed at the contractor’s facility. Installation will be performed by District trades.

 

The Affirmative Action Ordinance Revised Appendix D will not be included because it is primarily a furnish and deliver contract which does not provide practical or cost-effective opportunities for direct or indirect subcontracting.

 

The tentative schedule for this contract is as follows:

Advertise                     May 18, 2016

Bid Opening                     June 7, 2016

Award                     July 7, 2016

Completion                     August 30, 2018

 
Funds for the 2016 expenditures are available in Accounts 101-67000/68000/69000-612650. Funds for subsequent years, 2017 and 2018, are contingent on the Board of Commissioners’ approval of the District’s budget for those years.

In view of the foregoing, it is recommended that the Director of Procurement and Materials Management be authorized to advertise Contract 16-690-11.
