Dear Sir:
On February 7, 2008, the Board of Commissioners authorized the Director of Procurement and Materials Management to add Contract 06-024-3M Effluent and Potable Water Piping Upgrades at the North Side Water Reclamation Plant at an estimated cost $1,000,000.00.
The increase in project cost is due to the substantial increase to the project scope from preliminary design stage to the final design stage. The increased scope of work includes, at the request of Maintenance and Operations, additional effluent piping in the Process Control Building, Grit Building, and Pump and Blower Building, Sludge Concentration Building, and Meter Building, removal of old pumps and piping in the Operating Galleries, replacement of pumps and strainers including the associated structural, electrical and instrumentation and control work in the Process Water Building, and asbestos abatement work and lead abatement work on the piping being removed.
It is hereby recommended that the Board of Commissioners authorize the Director of Procurement and Materials Management to increase the cost estimate for Contract 06-024-3M from $1,000,000.00 to $3,750,000.00.
Funds are available in Account 401-50000-645750.
