Authority is requested to add Project 11-188-2M, Elevator Upgrades at North and South Pump Houses, Main Stream Pumping Station to the Engineering Department Capital Improvement Program and the Capital Improvements Construction Fund.
The purpose of this project is to repair the South Vent Shaft elevator, which has been out of service due to continuous seepage of ground water in the elevator hoistway and associated corrosion to the elevator components. In addition, improvements to the ground water collection system will reduce maintenance and deterioration of the elevator components. Finally, improvements to both the North and South elevators will provide modernization and replacement of obsolete components. These elevators are necessary for transporting personnel, equipment, and tools into both the North and South Pump Houses.
This project consists of the following:
1. Replace hoist cables and shackles, governor system, safety buffers, elevator cab, signal system, corroded sections of guide rail, door operating system and hoistway doors for South Vent Shaft elevator.
2. Modify the ground water collection system in the South Vent Shaft elevator hoistway.
3. Replace the signal system, bottom landing hoistway door, cab lighting, etc in South Main, North Main and North Vent Shaft elevators.
The estimated cost of the contract is $800,000.00.
