Dear Sir:
Todd Worth is a Pipefitter at the Stickney Water Reclamation Plant. On July 29, 2024, he reported that he felt a pull in his stomach while prying apart the flanges on a valve. He sought treatment at the Industrial Clinic on July 29, 2024, and was diagnosed with a hernia. He was taken off work on July 31, 2024.
Mr. Worth had an MRI confirming a left inguinal hernia. He had surgery on September 27, 2024, and returned to work on October 21, 2024.
Mr. Worth was paid 11.6 weeks of lost time benefits totaling $17,108.49.
Mr. Worth filed an Application of Adjustment of Claim with the Illinois Workers’ Compensation Commission (IWCC) through his counsel. Subject to the approval of the IWCC, this case can be settled for $26,148.00 representing approximately 5% loss of a person as a whole. This settlement will close out any future lost time and medical benefits.
The Acting Director of Human Resources believes this settlement is in the best interest of the District and requests payment of that sum be approved and he be authorized to execute such documents as may be necessary to effect the settlement.
