Dear Sir:
On September 17, 2015, the Board of Commissioners authorized the Director of Procurement and Materials Management to advertise for bids, Contract 16-103-11 Furnish and Deliver Lab Coats and Coveralls to Various Locations. The contract expires on December 31, 2018.
Authorization to amend Board Order of September 17, 2015, regarding Authority to Advertise, was approved at the Board meeting of November 5, 2015.
In response to a public advertisement of November 25, 2015, a bid opening was held on December 8, 2015. All bids were rejected, as reported, at the Board meeting of January 7, 2016.
In response to a public re-advertisement of February 3, 2016, a bid opening was held on February 23, 2016. The bid tabulation for this contract is:
ARAMARK UNIFORM & CAREER APPAREL LLC $20,845.00
G & K SERVICES, INC. $37,401.00
One hundred eighty-six (186) companies were notified of this contract being advertised and twenty-seven (27) companies requested specifications.
Aramark, the lowest responsible bidder, is proposing to perform the contract in accordance with the specifications. The estimated cost for this contract was $22,500.00, placing their bid of $20,845.00 approximately 7.4 percent below the estimate.
The Multi-Project Labor Agreement is not applicable to this contract because it is primarily a furnish and deliver contract.
The Affirmative Action Ordinance, Revised Appendix D is not included in this contract because it is primarily a furnish and deliver contract.
In view of the foregoing, it is recommended that the Director of Procurement and Materials Management be authorized to issue a purchase order for Contract 16-103-12 (Re-Bid) to Aramark Uniform and Career Apparel LLC (Aramark), in an amount not to exceed $20,845.00.
No bid deposit was required for this contract.
Funds for the 2016 expenditures, in the amount of $5,845.00, are available in Account 101-16000-612490. The estimated expenditures for 2017 are $7,500.00 and for 2018 are $7,500.00. Funds for the 2017 and 2018 expenditures are contingent on the Board of Commissioners’ approval of the District’s budget for those years.
