The purpose of Contract 23-416-2S is to rehabilitate the Kirie-Egan Solids Pipeline between stations 0+00 and 27+05, including all associated manholes and structures. The existing solids pipeline was originally constructed in 1978 under Contract 71-311-2S to transport activated sludge from the Kirie Water Reclamation Plant (WRP) to the Egan WRP for treatment and final disposal. Since July 2023, there have been a total of five (5) pipeline breaks requiring emergency repair. In order to increase the reliability of the pipeline conveyance between the Egan and Kirie WRPs, the pipeline needs to be rehabilitated. The contract specifications require that all work commence 30 calendar days after approval of the contractor’s bond and shall be completed within 550 calendar days after approval of the contractor’s bond. Liquidated damages are $1,200.00 for each calendar day beyond the specified date for substantial completion and $400.00 for each calendar day beyond the specified date for final completion.
