Title
Authority to advertise Contract 24-101-11 Boat Maintenance, Repairs, and Parts for the PC100 Boat, estimated cost $69,600.00, Accounts 101-16000-612790, 623990, Requisition 1605329
Body
Dear Sir:
Contract documents and specifications have been prepared to provide boat maintenance, repairs, and parts for the Pollution Control 100 (PC100) boat. This contract begins January 1, 2024 and ends December 31, 2025.
The purpose of this contract is to provide maintenance, repairs, and necessary parts for the PC100 boat. This vessel is utilized by the Monitoring and Research Department to navigate the deep draft sections of the Chicago Area Waterway System (CAWS), supporting various research initiatives and ensuring compliance with National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System permit requirements. Furthermore, the Metropolitan Water Reclamation District of Greater Chicago (District) employs the PC100 boat to conduct property surveys along the CAWS. It's important to note that, due to its substantial size, the forty-foot PC100 vessel may require hoisting from the water for certain maintenance and repair tasks.
The estimated cost for this contract is $69,600.00. The estimated 2024 and 2025 expenditures are $34,800.00 and $34,800.00, respectively.
A bid deposit is not required for this contract.
The Multi-Project Labor Agreement (MPLA) will not be included in this contract because the classification of work does not fall within the provisions of the MPLA.
The Affirmative Action Ordinance, Revised Appendix D is not included in this contract because the estimate is less than the minimum threshold established by Section 4 of the Affirmative Action Ordinance.
The tentative schedule for this contract is as follows:
Advertise October 25, 2023
Bid Opening November 14, 2023
Award December 21, 2023
Completion December 31, 2025
Funds are being requested for 2024 and 2025, in Accounts 101-16000-612790 and 623990, and are contingent on the Board of Commissioners’ approval of the District’s budget for those years.
In view of the foregoing, it is recommended that the Director of Procurement and Materials Management be authorized to advertise Contract 24-101-11.
