Dear Sir:

 

Contract documents and specifications have been prepared for Contract 27-643-21, Rehabilitation of Electric Motors at Various Locations, at the request of the Maintenance and Operations Department.

 

The purpose of this contract is to rehabilitate Stickney WRP Blower #2 motor and Kirie WRP Raw Sewage Pump #2 motor. The project consists of restoring the motor’s mechanical and electrical components, cleaning and repainting the units, and performing inspections and testing.

 

The estimated cost for this contract is between $562,210.00 and $680,570.00.

 

The bid deposit for this contract is $24,000.00.

 

The Multi-Project Labor Agreement (MPLA) will not be included in this contract because the work will be performed off-site at the contractor’s facility. Any removal or installation work with be done by District's trades.

 

The Affirmative Action Ordinance Revised Appendix D and Appendix V will not be included in this contract because there are insufficient numbers of certified MBEs, WBEs, and VBEs available to perform the specialized scope of work.

 

The tentative schedule for this contract is as follows:

Advertise                                                               November 18, 2026

Bid Opening                                          December 8, 2026

Award                                                                                    January 7, 2027

Completion                                           December 31, 2027

 

Funds for 2027 are being requested in Account 201-50000-645750 and are contingent on the Board of Commissioners’ approval of the District’s budget for those years.

 

In view of the foregoing, it is recommended that the Director of Procurement and Materials Management be authorized to advertise Contract 27-643-21.
