Dear Sir:

 

Contract documents and specifications have been prepared for Contract 26-673-11, Heavy Equipment Maintenance at Various Locations, at the request of the Maintenance and Operations Department.

 

The purpose of this contract is to obtain repair services for heavy equipment from qualified mechanics, including necessary tools, materials, equipment, and parts. There will be three groups: Group A for Stickney Service Area, Group B for Calumet Service Area, and Group C for North Service Area. Separate contracts could be awarded for each group.

 

The estimated cost for this contract is not to exceed $802,200.00. The estimated 2026, 2027, and 2028 expenditures are $62,200.00, $370,000.00, and $370,000.00, respectively.

 

The Multi-Project Labor Agreement (MPLA) will be included in this contract.

 

The Affirmative Action Ordinance Revised Appendix D and Appendix V will not be included in this contract because there are no MBE/WBE/VBE subcontractors available to perform the scope of work.

 

The tentative schedule for this contract is as follows:

Advertise                     July 15, 2026

Bid Opening                     August 4, 2026

Award                     September 3, 2026

Completion                     December 31, 2028

 

Funds for 2026 are available in Accounts 101-67000/68000/69000-612760. Funds for the subsequent years, 2027 and 2028, are contingent upon the Board of Commissioners’ approval of the District’s budget for those years.

 

In view of the foregoing, it is recommended that the Director of Procurement and Materials Management be authorized to advertise Contract 26-673-11.
