Report on rejection of bids for Contract 08-999-11 Furnish and Deliver a Wheelloader to the LASMA Drying Facility, Estimated Cost:  $420,000.00 (As Revised)

Dear Sir:

 

On March 6, 2008, the Board of Commissioners authorized the Purchasing Agent to advertise for bids for Contract 08-999-11 Furnish and Deliver a Wheelloader to the LASMA Drying Facility.

 

In response to a public advertisement of March 19, 2008, a bid opening was held on April 8, 2008.  The bid tabulation for this contract is:

 

ROLAND MACHINERY COMPANY                     $236,116.00

MCALLISTER EQUIPMENT COMPANY                     $283,515.00

PATTEN INDUSTRIES, INC.                     $345,000.00

 

Two hundred nine (209) companies were notified of this contract being advertised and nine (9) companies requested specifications.

 

A review of the bid documents revealed that the bid submitted by Roland Machinery Company proposes equipment which does not meet the Contract’s anti-corrosion specifications.  In addition, this proposed equipment is rated at 300 hp, which is less than the specified rating of 311 hp.  The bid submitted by McAllister Equipment Company proposes equipment with a 45 degree bucket dump clearance of 7’-0”, which is less than the specified 10’-9” clearance.  In addition, this proposed equipment has a total hydraulic cycle time of 11.5 seconds, which is greater than the specified 10.4 seconds.  Patten Industries, Inc., proposes equipment with a  45 degree bucket dump clearance of 10’-8”, which is less than the specified 10’-9”.  None of the proposed equipment meets the Contract specifications.

 

Based on the above information, all bids have been rejected by the Purchasing Agent in the public’s best interest.

 

The contract will be reviewed prior to re-advertisement.
