Title

Authorization for payment to the Water Environment Federation for registration fees for nine Commissioners and two hundred sixty-four employees in various departments to attend the annual Water Environment Federation Technical Exhibition and Conference WEFTEC 2019, in an amount not to exceed $47,912.00, Accounts 101-11000, 15000, 16000, 20000, 25000, 27000, 50000, 66000, 67000, 68000, 69000-601100 (As Revised)

Body

Dear Sir:

Authorization is requested to make payment to the Water Environment Federation (WEF) for registration fees for Commissioners and Metropolitan Water Reclamation District of Greater Chicago (District) employees to attend the annual Water Environment Federation Technical Exhibition and Conference (WEFTEC) being held in Chicago during September, in an amount not to exceed $47,912.00.

Since its formation in 1927, WEF has been holding annual meetings to provide a forum for knowledge and technology exchange within the water and wastewater fields. Today, WEFTEC - WEF’s Annual Technical Exhibition and Conference - offers the best water quality education and training available and is a leading source for water quality developments, research, regulations, solutions, and cutting-edge technologies. Since 1927, District employees have participated in WEFTEC.

As WEFTEC 2019 is not available through any other source, nothing would be gained by advertising for bids (Section 11.4 of the Purchasing Act).

It is hereby recommended that the Board of Commissioners authorize payment, by direct voucher, to the Water Environment Federation, in an amount not to exceed $47,912.00.  Funds are available in Accounts 101-11000, 15000, 16000, 20000, 25000, 27000, 50000, 66000, 67000, 68000, 69000-601100.

Requested, Eileen McElligott, Administrative Services Officer, EMcE:EWP:KB:ae

Recommended, Darlene A. LoCascio, Director of Procurement and Materials Management

Respectfully Submitted, Barbara J. McGowan, Chairman Committee on Procurement
