COMMITTEE ON JUDICIARY

Mr. Brian A. Perkovich, Executive Director

Title

Authority to settle the Workers’ Compensation Claim of Shawndena Redmond vs. MWRDGC, Claim number 20WC021425, Illinois Workers’ Compensation Commission (IWCC), in the sum of $17,003.98 Account 901-30000-601090

Body

Dear Sir:

Shawndena Redmond is a Maintenance Laborer Class A working at the Calumet Water Reclamation Plant. On August 5, 2020, she reported that while weed whacking on wet grass, she fell twisting her right knee. The employee sought treatment at the Industrial Clinic on August 7, 2020, at which time she was diagnosed with a strain. She was treated conservatively with medication and physical therapy. The employee had an MRI on November 12, 2020, showing degenerative disease and a Grade IV sprain of the ACL. She was treated with 3 injections.

Ms. Redmond did not lose any time off work.

Ms. Redmond filed an Application of Adjustment of Claim with the Illinois Workers’ Compensation Commission (IWCC) through her counsel. Subject to the approval of the IWCC, this case can be settled for $17,003.98, representing approximately 9.0% loss of use of the right leg. This settlement will close out any future lost time benefits associated with this injury.

The Director of Human Resources believes this settlement is in the best interest of the District and requests payment of that sum be approved and he be authorized to execute such documents as may be necessary to effect the settlement.

Requested, Thaddeus J. Kosowski, Director of Human Resources, TJK:BLW:DMG
