RESOLUTION sponsored by the Board of Commissioners recognizing the retirement of James Buchanan, Business Manager for Pipefitters Local 597

Body

 

WHEREAS, James Buchanan was elected as Business Manager for Pipefitters Local 597 in July 2001; and

 

WHEREAS, since taking office, Mr. Buchanan has opened two state of the art UA training facilities in Mokena and Aurora, Illinois; and

 

WHEREAS, during his tenure, James Buchanan helped to replace 2,500 to 3,000 retiring workers; and

 

WHEREAS, as the fourth Business Manager, James Buchanan was able to continue the positive relationship with MCA Chicago that has kept the partnership strike-free for their entire history; and

 

WHEREAS, in addition to his position as Business Manager, Mr. Buchanan sits on the Board of Directors of the Regional Transportation Authority; sits on the executive board of the Chicago and Cook County Building and Construction Trades Council representing pipe fitters; is a member of the Illinois Labor Council at the Amalgamated Bank of Chicago, and works with Pirates, Inc., an organization that aids children with autism; and

 

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that we, the Board of Commissioners of the Metropolitan Water Reclamation District of Greater Chicago, on behalf of ourselves and staff, do hereby recognize the contributions and the retirement of James Buchanan; and

 

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that this Resolution be spread upon the permanent Record of Proceedings of the Board of Commissioners of the Metropolitan Water Reclamation District of Greater Chicago and that a copy of same, suitably engrossed, be presented to James Buchanan.
