MOTION FOR BOARD MEETING OF DECEMBER 2, 2010

Title

MOTION with respect to Agenda Item #51, File ID #10-1471, on the Studies of Separation of the Great Lakes and Mississippi River Watersheds

Body

I move that the five position statements be replaced with the following:

The Metropolitan Water Reclamation District's duty - by statute and policy - is to protect the drinking water supply for Chicago and Cook County, Illinois.  MWRD remains committed to safeguarding and improving water quality in Lake Michigan.  Any measure that would compromise the health and welfare of the public or environment is unacceptable.  However, in order to prevent flooding during extreme wet weather in Chicago and surrounding communities, the District must be able to discharge excess stormwater to Lake Michigan.
