Dear Sir:

 

Contract documents and specifications have been prepared for furnishing and delivering sodium carbonate to the Egan Water Reclamation Plant, at the request of the Maintenance and Operations Department.

 

The purpose of this contract is for furnishing and delivering 1,596,000 pounds of granular, anhydrous sodium carbonate (soda ash) to the Egan Water Reclamation Plant for use in the Anita Mox ammonia removal process. The sodium carbonate is used to adjust the alkalinity of the centrate to a higher ph level.

 

The estimated cost for this contract is $350,000.00. The estimated 2018, 2019 and 2020 expenditures are $94,000.00, $182,000.00 and $74,000.00 respectively.

 

The bid deposit for this contract is $17,500.00.

 

The Multi-Project Labor Agreement is not included in this contract because it is a furnish and deliver type contract.

 

The Affirmative Action Ordinance, Appendix D, will not be included in this contract because it is a furnish and deliver contract.

 

The tentative schedule for this contract is as follows:

Advertise                     January 17, 2018

Bid Opening                     February 6, 2018

Award                     March 1, 2018

Completion                      December 31, 2020

 

Funds are being requested in 2018, 2019 and 2020 in Account 101-67000-623560, and are contingent on the Board of Commissioners’ approval of the District’s budget for those years.

 

In view of the foregoing, it is recommended that the Director of Procurement and Materials Management be authorized to advertise Contract 18-708-11.
