RESOLUTION FOR BOARD MEETING OF DECEMBER 19, 2019

RESOLUTION sponsored by the Board of Commissioners honoring Marilyn D. Glazer for her 15 years of public service with the Niles Township Government

Body

 

WHEREAS, the Metropolitan Water Reclamation District of Greater Chicago (District) has a long history of working closely with local government officials to protect our water environment; and

 

WHEREAS, Marilyn D. Glazer was a member of the Skokie Zoning Board when she was encouraged to run for Niles Township (Township) Trustee in 2005; and

 

WHEREAS, Marilyn D. Glazer served as Trustee for 11 years, where she was part of a critical transition for the Township as they stretched resources to provide needed services and programs to residents in need, including: providing legal services for seniors; providing immigration services; implementing the Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program; arranging visits to local elected officials’ offices to address social security concerns; and organizing a school supply drive; and

 

WHEREAS, Marilyn D. Glazer served as Acting Supervisor in 2014 after the loss of a colleague and demonstrated immense leadership. Thereafter, she was appointed Supervisor on October 14, 2014, where she has served for the last five years; and

 

WHEREAS, Marilyn D. Glazer, in her capacity as Niles Township Supervisor has utilized District biosolids at various public projects, most recently at the Niles Township Community Garden, integrating biosolids into the existing soil to enhance its monarch butterfly garden; and

 

WHEREAS, Marilyn D. Glazer also currently serves as Treasurer of the Niles Township Food Pantry Foundation, as well as Treasurer of the Township Officials of Cook County.  She has previously served as a Commissioner on the Skokie Zoning Board of Appeals and as Director of the Skokie Caucus Party; and

 

WHEREAS, Marilyn D. Glazer will retire from the Niles Township Government at the end of this year; and

 

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that we, the Board of Commissioners of the Metropolitan Water Reclamation District of Greater Chicago, on behalf of ourselves and staff, do hereby extend our appreciation and gratitude to Marilyn D. Glazer for her 15 years of public service to Niles Township Government; and 

 

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that this Resolution be spread upon the permanent Record of Proceedings of the Board of Commissioners of the Metropolitan Water Reclamation District of Greater Chicago and that a copy of same, suitably engrossed, be presented to Marilyn D. Glazer.
