The scope of work of the project includes a gas detection system with local alarm for the new Energy Recovery Building. To enhance the safety and security of the new facility, a request for proposal was initiated by the District for the design change to furnish, install, and integrate a fire alarm system into the new facility and to integrate the fire alarm and gas detection systems into the Egan WRP Distributed Control System (DCS). This integration will allow the Egan Control Room to monitor both systems in real time.
The scope of this change order is an extra to integrate the gas detection system into the Egan WRP DCS, design and install a fire alarm system for the Energy Recovery Building, including integration into the Egan WRP DCS, and installation of all conduits and duct banks from the Energy Recovery Building to the Dewatering Building. The contractor submitted a cost proposal (CO-19) for an extra in the amount of $223,878.60 and a credit in the amount of $0.00, for a net extra in the amount of $223,878.60. The engineer reviewed the proposal, found it to be reasonable, and stated via correspondence CO19 that the Engineering Department would recommend its approval.
This change order is in compliance with the Illinois Criminal Code since the change is germane to the contract.
It is hereby recommended that the Board of Commissioners authorize the Director of Procurement and Materials Management to execute a change order to increase Contract 20-RFP-28R in an amount of $223,878.60 (1.49% of the current contract value), from an amount of $15,064,528.22, to an amount not to exceed $15,288,406.82.
