MEMORIAL RESOLUTION sponsored by the Board of Commissioners celebrating the life of Annie Pearl Howard
Body
WHEREAS, Annie Pearl Howard, nee Jones, was born on May 6, 1938 in Jackson, Mississippi, before moving to the south side of Chicago in the 1950s, where their home became a pillar of the Park Manor neighborhood; and
WHEREAS, she later moved to New Orleans, where, in 1958, she met her future husband Roosevelt “Catman” Howard and his daughter, eventually having four more children; and
WHEREAS, Annie Pearl and her family eventually settled back in Chicago, moving into the house next door to her parents, where they served as an important and valued part of the Park Manor community, turning their home into the heart of every family gathering and holiday celebration.
WHEREAS, Annie Pearl’s home was a place where loved ones came together, playing games and dancing late into the night, and finding unwavering support in her presence; and
WHEREAS, Annie Pearl passed down to the next generation her nurturing nature, wisdom, and a deep sense of community, as well as a love for the blues and an appreciation for southern cuisine, and she will be remembered for making people feel seen and cared for, whether through a comforting meal, a listening ear, or a firm but loving word of advice; and
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that we, the Board of Commissioners of the Metropolitan Water Reclamation District of Greater Chicago, on behalf of ourselves and our staff, do hereby extend our condolences to the family of Annie Pearl Howard; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that this Resolution be spread upon the permanent Record of Proceedings of the Board of Commissioners of the Metropolitan Water Reclamation District of Greater Chicago and that a copy of same, suitably engrossed, be presented to the family of Annie Pearl Howard.
