Report of Collective Bargaining Activities in 2008

Dear Sir:
The Metropolitan Water Reclamation District currently has Collective Bargaining Agreements with six different bargaining units. All six of the Collective Bargaining Agreements will expire on June 30, 2008. Those six agreements are with the National Conference of Firemen and Oilers, Local No. 7; the International Union of Operating Engineers, Local 399; the State and Municipal Teamsters and Chauffeurs Union, Local 726; the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, Local No. 9 (Electrical Operations); the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, Local No. 9 (Electrical Instrument and Testing); and the Building Trades Coalition and Chicago Regional Council of Carpenters. It is anticipated that bargaining with these six units for successor agreements will begin in mid to late April. A total of 854 employees are represented in these six bargaining units.
The classifications represented and the number of positions within each of the six bargaining units are as follows:

Once tentative agreements have been reached with the six bargaining units and ratified in accordance with each of the bargaining unit’s requirements, those agreements will be submitted to the Board of Commissioners for final approval.
