Dear Sir:
 
Contract documents and specifications have been prepared for services to perform pavement repairs in the Stickney, LASMA and outlying service areas, at the request of the Maintenance and Operations Department.
 
The purpose of this contract is to repair asphalt and concrete pavement, as needed, in the Stickney, LASMA and outlying service areas, for an approximate seven-month period.
 
The estimated cost for this contract is $253,100.00.
 
The bid deposit for this contract is $12,650.00.
 
The contract specifications require the contractor to repair asphalt and concrete pavement, as needed, in the Stickney, LASMA and outlying service areas, upon approval of the contractor's bond and ending approximately seven months thereafter.
 
The Multi-Project Labor Agreement (MPLA) will be included in this contract.
 
Revised Appendix D will not be included in Group A of this contract because the estimate is less than the minimum threshold established by Section 4 of the Affirmative Action Ordinance. The Revised Appendix D will be included in Group B of this contract. The type of work to be performed under Group B of the contract is within the "Road Construction" category for establishing PCE utilization goals. The tailored PCE utilization goals, for Group B of this contract, are 14% Minority Business Enterprises (MBE) and/or Women's Business Enterprises (WBE), and 10% Small Business Enterprises (SBE).
 
The tentative schedule for this contract is as follows:
Advertise      April 25, 2012
Bid Opening      May 22, 2012
Award      June 21, 2012
Completion      December 31, 2012
 
Funds are being requested in Accounts 101-66000/69000-612420.
 
In view of the foregoing, it is recommended that the Director of Procurement and Materials Management be authorized to advertise Contract 12-963-11.
