Dear Sir:

 

Authorization is requested to issue a purchase order to Equipment Depot of Illinois, Inc., to furnish and deliver a forklift to the O’Brien Water Reclamation Plant. The forklift will be delivered by December 31, 2020.

 

Sourcewell (formerly NJPA) currently has a competitively bid contract with Mitsubishi Caterpillar Forklift America Inc., for the purchase of forklifts, lift trucks, pallet jacks and related equipment.  Equipment Depot of Illinois, Inc., is the local distributor for Mitsubishi Caterpillar Forklift America Inc.  On May 19, 2011, the Board of Commissioners granted authority to participate in the NJPA purchasing cooperative. The invitation to bid was issued to establish a contract to enable all state agencies and authorized local governmental units to purchase current model year production vehicles during the contract period.  The term of the contract began on January 17, 2017, and expires on January 17, 2021.

 

This order consists of the procurement of one (1) new Mitsubishi F8C30N, 6,000 lb. capacity 36/48 volt electric 4-wheel cushion tire forklift.  The procurement of the forklift is required to move coarse screen dumpsters to the scavenger pick-up area. The forklift will replace an existing unit that entered into service in 2008 and has reached the end of its useful life.

 

Equipment Depot of Illinois, Inc., is registered and in good standing to transact business in the State of Illinois.

 

The Multi-Project Labor Agreement (MPLA) and Affirmative Action, Revised Appendix D are not applicable to this requisition because it is primarily a furnish and deliver contract.

 

The Procurement and Materials Management Department believes that participating in the Sourcewell contract will expedite the ordering and delivery of the forklift and reduce administrative costs.

 

In view of the foregoing, it is recommended that the Director of Procurement and Materials Management be authorized to issue a purchase order to Equipment Depot of Illinois, Inc., in an amount not to exceed $37,967.25.

 

Funds are available in Account 101-67000-634760.
