MEMORIAL RESOLUTION FOR BOARD MEETING OF APRIL 16, 2026

MEMORIAL RESOLUTION sponsored by the Board of Commissioners celebrating the life of Bria Nichole Fleming

Body

 

WHEREAS, Bria Nichole Fleming, a self-proclaimed foodie, fashion enthusiast, traveler, collector of experiences, devoted entrepreneur, and award-winning mother, entered into eternal rest on March 24, 2026; and

 

WHEREAS, Bria was resourceful, intelligent, and deeply loyal. Those who knew her understood that Bria was someone you could depend on. A natural problem solver, she met challenges with resolve, transforming obstacles into outcomes with quiet confidence. Bria truly understood the mission of MWRD and the importance of maintaining a clean water environment, and volunteered at community events to help spread awareness about our essential work; and

 

WHEREAS, professionally, Bria exemplified excellence. As a Program Manager for an energy efficient program consulting firm, she earned the respect of her colleagues and leadership and was honored as Employee of the Year in 2024; and

 

WHEREAS, above all, what mattered most to Bria were her children. They were her greatest love and her most meaningful legacy. They were the reason behind her drive, the source of her strength, and the center of every choice she made. She did not simply raise them, she poured into them, protected them, and positioned them to thrive; and

 

WHEREAS, Bria’s memory will be honored by her children Aubrey Anaiya Chamberlain and Ace Noah Neely; her loving mother, Angela Fleming; her caring father, Earnest P. Byrd, Jr.; her adored sisters, Shalonda Carter, Aaliyah Muhammad and Athena Byrd; her devoted grandparents, Justice John and Deborah Steele, Sr., Earnest and Christeon Byrd, Sr., Fermon and Alicia Fleming, Jr.; her great-grandmother, Blanche Byrd; and a plethora of other loving relatives and friends; and

 

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that we, the Board of Commissioners of the Metropolitan Water Reclamation District of Greater Chicago, on behalf of ourselves and our staff, do hereby extend our condolences to the family and friends of Bria Nichole Fleming; and

 

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that this Resolution be spread upon the permanent Record of Proceedings of the Board of Commissioners of the Metropolitan Water Reclamation District of Greater Chicago and that a copy of same, suitably engrossed, be presented to the family of Bria Nichole Fleming.
