Title

Authority to amend lease agreement with tenant farmer Mr. Kyle McCarthy for land parcels located at the Prairie Plan Site in Fulton County, Illinois for a one-year period, pursuant to 17-RFP-31, Farm Management Support Services. The District will be paid an annual rent of $200.00 for an additional 1.0 acre.

Dear Sir:

 

The District owns property in Fulton County, Illinois, known as the Prairie Plan Site. A portion of the property consists of agricultural land on which the District previously applied biosolids originating from District water reclamation plants in the greater Chicago area.

 

On February 15, 2018, the Board of Commissioners authorized the Director of Procurement and Materials Management to issue a purchase order to Heartland Bank and Trust Company to provide farm management support services under Contract 17-RFP-31. The purpose of the farm management support services contract is to manage the District’s farmland in Fulton County.

 

On April 19, 2018, the Board of Commissioners authorized leases to tenant farmers, under the farm management support services contract, for land parcels of various acreages located at the Prairie Plan Site.

 

It is requested that the Board of Commissioners authorize and approve an amendment to the lease agreement with tenant farmer Mr. Kyle McCarthy to include 1.0 acre of unused District grassland for a one-year period for beekeeping. The District will be paid an annual rent of $200.00 for the additional 1.0 acre.

 

It is further requested that the Board of Commissioners authorize the Chairman of the Committee on Finance and the Clerk of the District to execute the lease agreement amendment after it is approved by the General Counsel as to form and legality.
