RESOLUTION FOR BOARD MEETING OF MAY 16, 2024

RESOLUTION sponsored by the Board of Commissioners recognizing the contributions of Asian/Pacific Americans and honoring esteemed representatives

Body

 

WHEREAS, on October 23, 1992, Public Law 102-450 was passed designating May of each year as Asian/Pacific American Heritage Month.  With the passage of this Law, Asian/Pacific American Heritage Month became an enduring symbol of the appreciation and gratitude of the United States towards the Asian American and Pacific Islander community; and

 

WHEREAS, in recognition of this designation, the Metropolitan Water Reclamation District of Greater Chicago (District) celebrates the vast contributions made and their role in creating a diverse culture in Cook County.  Specifically, the District honors the following esteemed representatives of the Asian American and Pacific Islander community; and

 

WHEREAS, Neal Patel is the CEO of Medstar Laboratory, Inc.  He has worked in the healthcare industry for more than two decades, where he has maneuvered through the complicated landscape of patient care and organizational leadership; and

 

WHEREAS, Dr. Sreenivas Reddy is a board certified diagnostic radiologist.  Dr. Reddy is a member of several medical organizations including the Society of Interventional Radiology, the American College of Phlebology (now known as the American Vein and Lymphatic Society), and the Radiological Society of North America; and

 

WHEREAS, an attorney by profession, Annu Khot is a managing partner of Rely Services and the founder of various business ventures.  In 2023 and 2024, Ms. Khot was recognized as one of the “Top 50 Women Leaders of Illinois” by the Women We Admire organization.  She is also a contributor on the Forbes Business Council; and

 

WHEREAS, Acharya Prayagraj Hule, is a renowned Vedanta scholar.  A sought-after speaker, Mr. Hule   conducts workshops for global organizations; and

 

WHEREAS, Dr. Santosh Kumar is the Founder and Executive Director of Metropolitan Asian Family Services, a non-profit organization that provides education, counseling, and assistance to immigrants with lineage from Asian, African, and European countries; and

 

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that we, the Board of Commissioners of the Metropolitan Water Reclamation District of Greater Chicago, on behalf of ourselves and our staff, do hereby honor the esteemed representatives named herein for their contributions to the Asian/Pacific American community; and

 

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that this Resolution be spread upon the permanent Record of Proceedings of the Board of Commissioners of the Metropolitan Water Reclamation District of Greater Chicago and that a copy of same, suitably engrossed, be presented to Neal Patel, Dr. Sreenivas Reddy, Annu Khot, Acharya Prayagraj Hule, and Dr. Santosh Kumar.
