Body
Dear Sir:
At its April 21, 1994, meeting, the Board of Commissioners (“Board”) authorized the District to enter into a 38-year lease with the Skokie Park District (“Skokie”) on approximately 15 acres of District real estate located along the east side of the North Shore Channel between Main Street and Oakton Street in Skokie, Illinois, and known as the North Shore Channel Parcels 4.02, 4.05 and 4.06 for park and recreational purposes, including utilization of the North Shore Channel for rowing and boating purposes. The lease expires April 20, 2032, and is subject to an annual fee of $10.00.
At its April 3, 1997, meeting, the Board consented to a License Agreement between Skokie and Loyola Academy Rowing Association (“LARA”) allowing LARA use of the boat house and boat ramp in conjunction with its rowing program for a twenty year term. LARA does not pay a fee to Skokie under the License Agreement. The District’s consent expires November 18, 2016.
Skokie and LARA have requested that the District again consent to allowing LARA to continue to use the boat house and boat ramp for the remainder of the Skokie lease term until April 20, 2032.
As Skokie’s lease provides for use of the site as a boat launch for rowing activities and there is no fee being paid to Skokie by LARA, a nominal fee of $10.00 is recommended.
It is requested that the Executive Director recommend to the Board of Commissioners that it consent to a license agreement between the Skokie Park District and Loyola Academy Rowing Association to conduct sculling boat activities on District real estate located along the east side of the North Shore Channel between Main Street and Oakton Street in Skokie, Illinois, and known as North Shore Channel Parcels 4.02, 4.05 and 4.06. Consideration shall be a nominal fee of $10.00.
It is further requested that the Executive Director recommend to the Board of Commissioners that the Chairman of the Committee on Finance and the Clerk be authorized and directed to execute said Consent to License Agreement after same is approved by the General Counsel as to form and legality.
Requested, Ronald M. Hill, General Counsel, RMH:STM:MM:vp
