TRANSMITTAL LETTER FOR BOARD MEETING OF FEBRUARY 21, 2008
COMMITTEE ON PENSION, PERSONNEL RELATIONS AND CIVIL SERVICE
Mr. Richard Lanyon, General Superintendent
Title
Report on Government Finance Officers Association Award to the MWRD Retirement Fund for Excellence in Financial Reporting for Fiscal Year 2006
Body
Dear Sir:
The Government Finance Officer’s Association of the United States and Canada (GFOA) awarded a Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting to the Metropolitan Water Reclamation District Retirement Fund for the fiscal year 2006 Comprehensive Annual Financial Report (CAFR).
The Certificate of Achievement is the highest form of recognition for excellence in public employee retirement system financial reporting. In order to be awarded a Certificate of Achievement, a government agency must publish an easily readable and efficiently organized comprehensive annual financial report. This report must satisfy both generally accepted accounting principles and applicable legal requirements.
This achievement is an asset to be shared with the entire District community. By meeting the rigorous standards of the GFOA program, assurance is provided to the members and Trustees of the Fund, the District Board, and to investors, regulators, the general citizenry and others that the Fund’s financial condition is fully and fairly presented. This was the 14th consecutive year that the Retirement Fund has achieved this prestigious award.
Respectfully submitted, Susan A. Boutin, Executive Director MWRD Retirement Fund
