Dear Sir:

 

Contract documents and specifications have been prepared for Contract 25-624-21, Sludge Pump Improvements at Various Locations, at the request of the Maintenance and Operations Department.

 

The purpose of this contract is to replace sludge pumps and scum pumps at the Calumet and Egan Water Reclamation Plants.

 

The estimated cost for this contract is $6,910,000.00. The estimated 2025, 2026, and 2027 expenditures are $250,000.00, $5,610,000.00, and $1,050,000.00, respectively.

 

The bid deposit for this contract is $200,000.00.

 

The Multi-Project Labor Agreement (MPLA) will be included in this contract.

 

The Affirmative Action Ordinance, Revised Appendix D and Appendix V will be included in this contract. The type of work to be performed under the contract is within the “General Construction” category for establishing utilization goals for Minority-Owned Business Enterprises (MBE), Women-Owned Business Enterprises (WBE), and Veteran-Owned Business Enterprises (VBE). The utilization goals for this contract are 20% MBE, 10% WBE, and 3% VBE. A supplier’s exception is recommended. The requirements for the Special Training for Apprentices are 410 minority hours and/or female hours.

 

The tentative schedule for this contract is as follows:

Award                                                               August 14, 2025

Completion                                           December 31, 2027

 

Funds for 2025 are available in Account 201-50000-645780. Funds for the following years, 2026 and 2027, are contingent on the Board of Commissioners’ approval of the District’s budget for those years.

 

In view of the foregoing, it is recommended that the Director of Procurement and Materials Management be authorized to advertise Contract 25-624-21.
