Body

Dear Sir:

Cook County School District 130 (“D130”) operates and maintains a 12-inch storm sewer outlet pipe which traverses Cal-Sag Channel (“CSC”) Parcel 15.04, north of Canal Street, and discharges into the Cal-Sag Channel in Blue Island, Illinois. The existing easement commenced January 11, 2001, and expires January 10, 2026.

D130 has requested a new 25-year easement to continue to operate and maintain the 12-inch storm sewer outlet pipe. CSC Parcel 15.04 is leased to the City of Blue Island under a public recreational lease. The lease is subject to the existing easement.

The District’s technical departments have reviewed this easement request and have no objections thereto. A nominal fee of $10.00 is recommended as is customary for governmental entities using District property for a public purpose.

It is requested that the Executive Director recommend to the Board of Commissioners that it grant Cook County School District 130 a 25-year, approximately 15’ x 76’ non-exclusive easement to continue to operate and maintain a 12-inch storm sewer outlet pipe on District real estate located south of the Cal-Sag Channel and east of Chatham Street in Blue Island, Illinois; Cal-Sag Channel Parcel 15.04. Consideration shall be a nominal fee of $10.00.

It is also requested that the Executive Director recommend to the Board of Commissioners that it authorize and direct the Chairman of the Committee on Finance and the Clerk to execute said easement agreement after it is approved by the General Counsel as to form and legality.

Requested, Susan T. Morakalis, General Counsel, STM:BJD:KHY:vp

Recommended, Brian A. Perkovich, Executive Director
