Dear Sir:

The following matters were settled upon the recommendation of the Director of Human Resources and the approval of the Executive Director:

1.      Settlement of Auto Liability Claim of Mark Crayton, Claim No: A/P 1542, in the amount of $1,282.42.

While driving on lower Lake Shore Drive in Chicago, IL on November 17, 2022, Mr. Crayton’s personal vehicle was allegedly struck and damaged on the front bumper by a District owned vehicle. This settlement satisfies the total damages sought to repair the vehicle.

2.       Settlement of Workers’ Compensation Claim of Martin Castro, Claim Case No. W003731565, in the amount of $8,902.55.

Martin Castro, a Powerhouse Mechanic Leadman at the Lockport Powerhouse, alleged an April 5, 2022 work related injury to his right thumb while pushing an electrical breaker lever upward which sprang back striking his thumb. The industrial clinic determined he fractured his right thumb. Mr. Castro did not lose any time from work. Settlement in the amount of $8,902.55 represents 12.5% loss of use of his right thumb and will close out any future lost time benefits as well as any future medical benefits.

3.     Settlement of Workers’ Compensation Claim of Michael Roman, Claim Case No. 23WC024846, in the amount of $7,028.33.

Michael Roman, a Structural Ironworker at the Calumet WRP, alleged a March 18, 2023 work related injury when a 2x4 stud struck his nose while removing a section of wall. The industrial clinic determined he had a laceration and bruising to the bridge of his nose. Mr. Roman did not lose any time from work. Settlement in the amount of $7,028.33 represents 1.5% loss of use of the person as a whole and will close out any future lost time benefits as well as any future medical benefits.
