RESOLUTION sponsored by the Board of Commissioners recognizing the 100th birthday of Virginia Crawford White on June 29, 2016
Body
WHEREAS, Virginia Crawford White was born to William and Josephine Crawford on June 29, 1916 in Hemingway, South Carolina, the fourth of nine children; and
WHEREAS, Mrs. Crawford White is the mother of three children: two sons, Aubrey and James, and a daughter, Gwendolyn. She has 10 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren; and
WHEREAS, Mrs. Crawford White is a Mother at Christ Temple Missionary Baptist Church; and
WHEREAS, Mrs. Crawford White attended Truman College and obtained professional status as a licensed practical nurse, as well as a registered nurse. She was employed as a nurse for over 40 years; and
WHEREAS, Mrs. Crawford White was a member of the American Institute of Nursing, where she broke barriers and left a legacy of opportunity for black women; and
WHEREAS, Mrs. Crawford White is very out-spoken and extremely intelligent; and
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that we, the Board of Commissioners of the Metropolitan Water Reclamation District of Greater Chicago, on behalf of ourselves and staff, do hereby recognize the 100th birthday of Virginia Crawford White; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that this Resolution be spread upon the permanent Record of Proceedings of the Board of Commissioners of the Metropolitan Water Reclamation District of Greater Chicago and that a copy of same, suitably engrossed, be presented to Virginia Crawford White.
