RESOLUTION sponsored by the Board of Commissioners recognizing Reverend Leslie Sanders (Deferred from the September 7, 2023 Board Meeting)

Body

 

WHEREAS, on Sunday, August 20, 2023, Reverend Leslie Sanders celebrated his 50th ministerial anniversary.  Reverend Sanders is the Senior Pastor at Hope Presbyterian Church of Chicago in the West Englewood neighborhood, where he has been presiding since February of 1986; and

 

WHEREAS, a native of Memphis, Tennessee, Reverend Sanders earned a Master of Theology degree from McCormick Theological Seminary in Chicago and received an honorary Doctor of Divinity degree from Mid-South Theological Seminary of Indiana; and

 

WHEREAS, Reverend Sanders is committed to inspiring and educating his community.  Observing the lack of resources that existed in West Englewood, Reverend Sanders founded the Hope Technology and Education Center (HopeTEC) in 2010.  An asset to the community, HopeTEC is a non-profit organization that provides computer training, professional development services, and recovery services; and

 

WHEREAS, in addition to HopeTEC, Reverend Sanders administers numerous programs that enrich the West Englewood community including a summer youth program and various donation events; and

 

WHEREAS, the Metropolitan Water Reclamation District of Greater Chicago recognizes the contributions of Reverend Sanders to his community and is humbled by his hard work and dedication; and

 

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that we, the Board of Commissioners of the Metropolitan Water Reclamation District of Greater Chicago, on behalf of ourselves and our staff, do hereby recognize Reverend Leslie Sanders; and

 

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that this Resolution be spread upon the permanent Record of Proceedings of the Board of Commissioners of the Metropolitan Water Reclamation District of Greater Chicago and that a copy of same, suitably engrossed, be presented to Reverend Leslie Sanders.
