RESOLUTION FOR BOARD MEETING OF JULY 15, 2021

RESOLUTION sponsored by the Board of Commissioners recognizing the Federation of Indian Associations Chicago, Sunil Shah, Neil Khot, Dr. Anuja Gupta, and Gurmeet Singh Dhalwan

Body

 

WHEREAS, the Federation of Indian Associations Chicago (FIA) is a not-for-profit umbrella organization created for the purpose of connecting organizations which believe in the shared vision of providing resources and assistance to the Asian Indian community in Chicago; and 

 

WHEREAS, currently, the FIA member organizations represent approximately 300,000 Asian Indians from various cultural and ethnic backgrounds; and

 

WHEREAS, of the many objectives of the FIA, the organization focuses on facilitating assistance to the Asian Indian community on issues regarding immigration, social welfare, and business proficiency; and

 

WHEREAS, the FIA has convened Asian American community members to provide crucial aide to India as the country faced fatal novel coronavirus outbreaks; and

 

WHEREAS, Sunil Shah is the Founder President of the FIA.  Mr. Shah is a community leader that often sponsors volunteer events in support of the Indian American community; and

 

WHEREAS, Neil Khot is a founding member of the FIA.  He is a member of numerous organizations that focus on the Indian American community, specifically in suburban Cook County; and

 

WHEREAS, Dr. Anuja Gupta is an advisory board member of the FIA and the co-founder of the Women’s Empowerment Campaign Chicago.  A physician and real estate developer by profession, Dr. Gupta created the first retirement community in the Chicagoland area which fuses Indian and American cultures; and

 

WHEREAS, Gurmeet Singh Dhalwan is the immediate past President of the FIA.  During his time as president, he worked diligently to raise cultural awareness of the Indian American community and led the organization through the first year of the novel coronavirus pandemic; and

 

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that we, the Board of Commissioners of the Metropolitan Water Reclamation District of Greater Chicago, on behalf of ourselves and our staff, do hereby recognize the Federation of Indian Associations Chicago, Sunil Shah, Neil Khot, Dr. Anuja Gupta, and Gurmeet Singh Dhalwan; and

 

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that this Resolution be spread upon the permanent Record of Proceedings of the Board of Commissioners of the Metropolitan Water Reclamation District of Greater Chicago and that a copy of the same, suitably engrossed, be presented to the Federation of Indian Associations Chicago, Sunil Shah, Neil Khot, Dr. Anuja Gupta, and Gurmeet Singh Dhalwan.
