RESOLUTION FOR BOARD MEETING OF JULY 15, 2021

RESOLUTION sponsored by the Board of Commissioners recognizing Amit Kumar
Body
WHEREAS, Amit Kumar is currently serving as the Consul General of India in Chicago. He began working in this capacity during the heart of the novel coronavirus pandemic. Immediately after taking his position as the Consul General, Mr. Kumar prioritized both raising awareness and obtaining assistance for those affected by this ravaging illness; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Kumar earned a Bachelor of Technology degree in mechanical engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur. In 1995, he began serving in the Indian Foreign Service. Mr. Kumar has worked in the fields of environment, technology, education, and health; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Kumar is a dedicated public servant. Prior to serving as the Consul General of India, he served in numerous roles, including: Under Secretary at the Ministry of External Affairs in New Delhi, India; First Secretary at the Embassy of India in Berlin, Germany; First Secretary/Counsellor at the Embassy of India in Ankara, Turkey; Counsellor at the Embassy of India in Beijing, China; Director of the Ministry of External Affairs in India; Minister and Counsellor at the Permanent Mission of India to the United Nations; Deputy Chief of the Mission at the Embassy of India in Tokyo, Japan; Joint Secretary of the Development Partnership Administration at the Ministry of External Affairs in New Delhi, India; Joint Secretary of Administration at the Ministry of External Affairs in New Delhi, India; and Ambassador/Deputy Chief of Mission at the Embassy of India in Washington, DC; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Kumar graciously presented as a guest speaker at the Water and Waste Management 3rd International (Virtual) Conference on February 24, 2021; and
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that we, the Board of Commissioners of the Metropolitan Water Reclamation District of Greater Chicago, on behalf of ourselves and our staff, do recognize Amit Kumar, Consul General of India, Chicago; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that this Resolution be spread upon the permanent Record of Proceedings of the Board of Commissioners of the Metropolitan Water Reclamation District of Greater Chicago and that a copy of the same, suitably engrossed, be presented to Amit Kumar.
