TRANSMITTAL LETTER FOR BOARD MEETING OF FEBRUARY 21, 2008
COMMITTEE ON STORMWATER MANAGEMENT
Mr. Richard Lanyon, General Superintendent
Title
Authority to Enter into an Agreement with Municipalities to Purchase Rain Barrels from the District for Distribution to the Public
Body
Dear Sir:
The Maintenance and Operations Department recommends that any municipality that wishes to purchase rain barrels from the District for subsequent sale to its constituents enter into a Memorandum of Agreement with the District whereby:
1. The municipality will be allowed to purchase a maximum of 40 barrels each year for subsequent resale to its constituents. The municipality will sell the barrels to its constituents at the price at which it was purchased from the District. The cost of the rain barrels will be determined by the District and will be the same as cost for rain barrels purchased directly from the District by the public.
2. The municipality will sell a maximum of two rain barrels each to any citizen living within its own boundaries. Rain barrels must only be sold to residents within Cook County.
3. The municipalities must provide the names of the purchasers and the location of where the rain barrels will be installed, and submit the same to the District within 30 days after the rain barrels are sold.
4. It will be the sole responsibility of the municipality to make arrangements to pickup, transport, store, sell, and distribute the rain barrels and to document any sales.
5. Literature supplied by the District will be included with each rain barrel.
6. If the municipality fails to comply with any of the terms and conditions of the agreement, the District will reserve the right to cancel the agreement with said municipality and bar any future rain barrel purchases by the same.
Requested, Osoth Jamjun, Chief of Maintenance and Operations, MPS:SO’C:JJY
