TRANSMITTAL LETTER FOR BOARD MEETING OF JUNE 5, 2008
COMMITTEE ON REAL ESTATE
Mr. Richard Lanyon, General Superintendent
Title
Authority to issue a 90-day permit to Peoples Gas and Light Company to use a pathway located on District land south of the Cal-Sag Channel and east of Route 7 in Palos Heights, Illinois, c/k/a Cal-Sag Channel Parcel 8.08, to access and replace a gas pipeline that lies on private property. Consideration shall be $2,000.00
Body
Dear Sir:
Peoples Gas and Light (PGL) and its Contractor, Contracting & Material Company, a division of Meade Electric Company, Inc., has scheduled a project to replace a section of its Mahomet gas transmission pipeline located on private land that lies south of the Cal-Sag Channel in Palos Heights, Illinois. PGL requests to use a pathway located on District Cal-Sag Channel Parcel Number 8.08, which is leased to the City of Palos Heights for the Lake Katherine Nature Center, to access its work site. The pathway is located east of Route 7 and south of the Cal-Sag Channel, and crosses underneath a railroad bridge to the north side of the construction area. The replacement project is scheduled to begin June 9, 2008.
The City of Palos Heights has given its consent to PGL to use the subject pathway located on its leasehold. The District’s technical departments have reviewed and approved the requests subject to protection of District facilities in the vicinity. The permit will require PGL to restore impacted District land to its prior condition.
Because the fee calculated in accordance with District policy would yield a fee of less than $2,000.00, a document preparation fee of $2,000.00 shall be assessed.
It is requested that the General Superintendent recommend to the Board of Commissioners that it authorize the issuance of a 90-day permit to Peoples Gas and Light Company to use a pathway located on District land south of the Cal-Sag Channel and east of Route 7 in Palos Heights, Illinois, c/k/a Cal-Sag Channel Parcel 8.08, to access and replace a gas pipeline that lies on private property. Consideration shall be $2,000.00.
It is further requested that the General Superintendent recommend to the Board of Commissioners that it authorize the Chairman of the Committee on Finance and the Clerk to execute said permit agreement after it is approved by the Attorney as to form and legality.
Requested, Frederick M. Feldman, Attorney, FMF:CL:JCC:nm
Recommended, Richard Lanyon, General Superintendent
