RESOLUTION FOR BOARD MEETING OF MARCH 6, 2008

RESOLUTION sponsored by the Board of Commissioners recognizing April 14 through April 16, 2008 as Chicago Minority Business Opportunity Days
Body
WHEREAS, the Chicago Minority Business Development Council’s 41st Annual Chicago Business Opportunity Fair will be held on April 14 through April 16, 2008, at Festival Hall, Navy Pier; and
WHEREAS, the theme of this year’s Fair is “Growing Minority Businesses to Sustainable Enterprises”; and
WHEREAS, the Chicago Business Opportunity Fair has grown to become the principal trade show event for minority business entrepreneurs; and
WHEREAS, continuing its tradition of promoting relationships between minority-owned businesses and major buying organizations in the public and private sectors, representatives from hundreds of organizations will participate in the Fair; and
WHEREAS, the Metropolitan Water Reclamation District of Greater Chicago has been a pioneer in recognizing the economic contributions of minority business men and women; and has supported the CBOF effort over the years by serving on the Planning and Hard Hat committees, attending the Fair and offering its services to the Chicago Minority Business Development Council; and
WHEREAS, this recognition is evinced by the Metropolitan Water Reclamation District of Greater Chicago’s adoption and continuing advocacy of a policy which supports the legitimate aspirations of minority communities and businesses within its jurisdiction; and
WHEREAS, the development of minority business enterprises is in the best interests of the Metropolitan Water Reclamation District of Greater Chicago, the State of Illinois and the United States of America; and
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that we, the Board of Commissioners of the Metropolitan Water Reclamation District of Greater Chicago, on behalf of ourselves and staff, hereby recognize April 14 through April 16, 2008, as Chicago Minority Business Opportunity Days and urge our fellow citizens to take note of, and participate in, the special activities arranged in observance of this event; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that this Resolution be spread upon the permanent Record of Proceedings of the Board of Commissioners of the Metropolitan Water Reclamation District of Greater Chicago and that a copy of same, suitably engrossed, be presented to the President of the Chicago Minority Business Development Council, Ms. Shelia Hill.
