Dear Sir:
On November 1, 2007, the Board of Commissioners passed an order directing the Purchasing Agent to advertise for bids for furnishing and delivering laboratory tubing and gloves, to various locations for a period of one year, beginning January 1, 2008, and ending on December 31, 2008.
In response to a public advertisement of November 14, 2007, a bid opening was held on November 27, 2007. The sole bid for Group A was rejected at the January 3, 2008 Board meeting and Group B was awarded as reported at the same meeting.
In response to a public re-advertisement of January 9, 2008, a bid opening was held on January 29, 2008. The bid tabulation for Group A of this contract is:
INDELCO PLASTICS CORPORATION $20,097.00
VWR INTERNATIONAL $23,230.50
Five hundred thirty-four (534) companies were notified of this contract being advertised and twelve (12) companies requested specifications.
Indelco Plastics Corporation is proposing to perform this contract, all in accordance with our specifications. The total estimated cost for this contract was $18,000.00, placing the bid of $20,097.00, approximately 11.7 percent over the estimate.
In view of the foregoing, it is recommended that this contract be awarded to Indelco Plastics Corporation, in an amount not to exceed $20,097.00. Purchase orders will be issued against this contract as required. Payment will be based on the unit prices indicated in the proposal. The bid deposit in the amount of $900.00 will be retained in lieu of a performance bond, which is satisfactory to our Law Department and approved by the Purchasing Agent. Funds are available in Account 101-20000-623570.
