Authority to settle the Property Damage Claim of Lawrence Taylor # AP 1524, in the sum of $18,930.48, arising from a January 27, 2022, general liability accident, Account 901-30000-667220

Dear Sir:
On January 27, 2022, Lawrence Taylor, Operating Engineer II at the Stickney Water Reclamation Plant, reported that his personal vehicle was parked at the northwest corner of the Phosphorus Recovery Building when he discovered a large boulder of ice had fallen from the roof of the building and crashed through the sunroof of his vehicle causing substantial damage.
Mr. Taylor submitted his claim through his insurance carrier, Allstate Fire and Casualty Insurance Company except for a portion of the rental car fees. The claim for damages to repair the vehicle total $15,559.20 which includes a $500.00 deductible paid by the employee. The insurance company paid an additional $677.66 in rental car fees. The employee paid a total of $2,693.62 directly for additional rental car fees. The final total amount to resolve this claim totals $18,930.48.
The Director of Human Resources believes this settlement is in the best interest of the District and requests payment in the amount of $18,930.48 be approved and she be authorized to execute such documents as may be necessary to effect the settlement.
