Title
Authority to enter into an intergovernmental agreement by and between the Metropolitan Water Reclamation District or Greater Chicago and the City of Chicago, to study a Flood Control Project for Albany Park
Body

Dear Sir:

The Board of Commissioners authorized the District to negotiate an intergovernmental agreement (IGA) with the City of Chicago (City) to study a flood control project for Albany Park on September 26, 2012.

The cost of the study is estimated to be $250,000.00 and the City has committed $125,000.00 towards the cost.  The District would contribute up to, and no more than, $125,000.00 for the study.  The City will direct a consultant currently under contract to the City to perform the study.  The District will have the authority to review and comment on the draft and final study.

Based on the foregoing, it is requested the Board of Commissioners grant authority to enter into an IGA with the City and that the Chairman of the Committee on Finance, the Clerk, the Director of Engineering, and the Executive Director, be and are hereby authorized to execute the above agreement, after same is approved by the General Counsel as to form and legality.

Requested, Catherine A. O'Connor, Director of Engineering, WSS:JPM
Recommended, David St. Pierre, Executive Director
Respectfully Submitted, Debra Shore, Chairman Committee on Stormwater Management
