Dear Sir:
Approval is requested to issue a purchase order (PO) to Westco Scientific Instruments, Inc. (Westco) to purchase an Easy-Dist Universal Distillation System (Easy-Dist System) and required accessories for the Egan Analytical Laboratory. This equipment will be used for the distillation of water reclamation plant influent and effluent samples for phenol analysis.
Since Westco is the exclusive manufacturer of the Easy-Dist System and required accessories, and the only certified source of supply for the items required, it is requested that this purchase be authorized without advertising, as stated in Section 11.4 of the Purchasing Act. This equipment and accessories are economically procurable from a single source.
In view of the above, it is recommended that the Purchasing Agent be authorized to issue a PO to Westco for an Easy-Dist System and the parts and supplies required, in an amount not to exceed $14,100.00. Funds are available in Account 101-16000-634970.
