Authority to settle the Bodily Injury Claim of Kevin Gilliam, Claim No. A/P 1562 in the sum of $67,000.00 arising from a May 28, 2025, vehicle accident, Account 901-30000-667220

Dear Sir:
On May 28, 2025, a District vehicle driven by employee Dushyant Sharma was traveling on Southbound I-294 at 95th Street when it struck a vehicle owned by Makayla Boykin and driven by Kevin Gilliam, causing damage to Ms. Boykin’s vehicle and injuring Mr. Gilliam. The District vehicle subsequently struck a second vehicle, owned by Ozinga Ready Mix.
Mr. Gilliam claims injuries to his lumber spine, left hip and left knee. His treatment consisted of medication and physical therapy. Mr. Gilliam was off work from May 28, 2025, through September 23, 2025.
Mr. Gilliam retained an attorney to represent him against the District. A tentative agreement was reached to resolve this claim, following negotiations with his attorney, for a total of $67,000.00.
The Director of Human Resources believes this settlement is in the best interest of the District and requests payment in the amount of $67,000.00 be approved and he be authorized to execute such documents as may be necessary to effect the settlement.
